Project Hero is proud to announce a partnership with the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System to expand our Las Vegas HUB program. This is very exciting news for the Project Hero community and veterans and first responders in the Las Vegas area.
Project Hero and the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System joined together yesterday to announce the launch of a new initiative to improve community and clinical support services for Las Vegas area Veterans through our Las Vegas HUB. 
The announcement was made by Peggy Kearns, Director, VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System, members VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System and Project Hero’s John Wordin and Scott Schroeder who were joined by Project Hero participants Patrick Kelly, USMC (Ret.), Navy Veteran Candise Morgan and First Responder and Project Hero HUB leader Charlie Joerger.
The initiative was announced as part of the Project Hero Mountain Bike Experience and Partner Summit and will expand the Las Vegas Project Hero HUB with a location at the North Las Vegas VA Medical Center that will include training and events programs for VA clinicians. The expanded HUB will also house a new facility for maintaining and storing bikes used by local Veterans and First Responders who are part of the Las Vegas HUB. The VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System provides delivery of health care to more nearly 62,000 Veterans annually and ensures services are available to Veterans residing in Clark, Lincoln and Nye counties.
Project Hero has been working closely with VA Medical Center directors following the announcement from VA Secretary Dr. David Shulkin authorizing the centers to partner with Project Hero and include HUB programs and activities at their facilities nationwide. In addition to partnerships with the VA, DOD and National Guard, Project Hero’s #NoVetAlone national network supports all who serve as a resource for peer-to-peer support, mentorship and increased opportunities to connect in local communities, especially in rural areas. Project Hero programs provide hope, recovery, and resilience for those that serve our country.
