Free to injured Veterans, the 2017 Project Hero Las Vegas Mountain Bike Experience was a self-paced, non-competitive therapeutic bike ride that featured hand cycles, recumbent cycles and traditional mountain bikes riding on bike-friendly trails through the foothills of Las Vegas.
“The 2017 Mountain Bike Challenge was a huge success because of the rides and our local guides!” said Paul Capinas of Project Hero HUB Las Vegas. “Southern Nevada Mountain Bike Association is always out in force to help showcase our favorite trails and share them with America’s finest. As in years past, the guides-to-rider ratio was about one to three, and that makes the ride so much more personable.”
Combining cycling and therapy, the Las Vegas Mountain Bike Experience was an inspiring cycling event for Veterans and First Responders that offered Healing Heroes suffering from PTSD, TBI and injury a unique peer-to-peer community building in Las Vegas’ beautiful Red Rock recreation area.
“Everyone gets the opportunity to ride at their pace and skill level and have an amazing time,” he said. “A few folks liked it so much they even took home some local cactus - the hard way! Las Vegas may be Sin City, but we have the best mountain bike guides in the U.S.!”
