Stafford Lake Expo
STAFFORD LAKE IS THE START AND FINISH POINT OF THE JENSIE

The Jensie Gran Fondo has been designed to be a extraordinary day in Marin County, with a focus on enjoying the best of Marin with Jens Voigt and our respected event partners. At the conclusion of the event, “suffering” the Jensie way, we will have prepared a “village” environment for you to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Taking an hour or two to relax and recover is a part of any cycling event’s tradition. You’ll find a wide range of foods available from some of the best vendors in Marin County. You’ll also find a glass of something cool and refreshing to wash it down with, whilst you sit in the shade, soak in the atmosphere and enjoy the moment.

For those of you who have come along with the family, we’ve arranged for our friends at Stafford Lakes Park to offer some fun activities which will keep them engaged and occupied, and wishing their parents had not ridden the course quite so fast. This includes the new bike park that any non-Jensie riders can enjoy!

More event-specific details about the expo area will be sent via email prior to the event.

*Dates and times subject to change.
WHAT TIME DOES THE RIDE START?
Ride start time will be PROMPTLY AT 8:00AM, If driving, we recommend arriving EARLY to ensure sufficient time to park and unload your gear before event start.

WILL MY RIDE BE TIMED?
Riders will be provided with a timing chip that attaches to your bike. For 2018, The Jensie Gran Fondo will feature timed segment racing. There will be 1-3 timed segments on course, depending on the route you choose. Your combined time through timed segments will determine your competitive ranking at the end of the event. The event is not timed start-to-finish, but riders must cross the finish line for segment times to be counted. Prizes will be awarded to overall and age-group winners. We caution you to practice prudent and legal riding throughout the day. All rules of the road must be followed at all times. Any illegal riding, i.e. crossing the yellow line, not stopping at stop signs (should CHP require a stop) will result in disqualification and your time will not count.

HOW SLOW CAN I GO?
All riders should have plenty of time to ride at a comfortable pace. The course and expo will close at 5pm. At this time on-course support and timing will conclude. It is very important that each rider choose a course distance that is right for them.

WHY IS THERE A COURSE CUTOFF TIME?
It's all about your safety! It is our responsible that you have a safe and enjoyable ride -- within daylight hours. The time cut off allows us to adequately staff the route with volunteers and law enforcement teams. It also allows us to make sure no one gets left out on the course against their wishes.
WHAT TYPE OF BIKE MAY I RIDE IN THE GRAN FONDO?
We encourage everyone to ride a road specific bike. Mountain bikes, tandems and two-wheeled recumbents will also be permitted. Due to the technical nature of the course and to ensure the safety of all riders, time trial bikes, bikes with clip on aero bars are strongly discouraged. If you elect to ride a time trial styled bike, for the safety of all riders, riding in aero position will not be permitted at any time. Bikes with trailers and/or attached youth seats will not be permitted. Trail-a-bikes will however be allowed -- yaay!

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS DURING THE JENSIE GRANFONDO?
Shut up rain! We will ride rain or shine. We do ask that you please be considerate to others and make sure you ride responsibly should we experience inclement conditions. Please also make sure you bring appropriate wet weather clothing -- just in case.
