ABOUT THE RIDE

We are excited to announce the new location of the UnitedHealthcare Army/Navy Challenge. Project Hero's 3-day event for the veterans and first responders to recover through cycling, community and family.

A family friendly event. This means your family is welcome to join us for the weekend. All family members must be registered on the website to be considered. Registration on the website is your application to participate. Unfortunately we will be limiting the total participants to approximately forty. Riding will only be for individuals 18 and over.

We will start the event on Friday afternoon with some optional events: nutrition seminar, bike cleaning and maintenance class, personal coaching session, or a group yoga practice. Friday evening will feature a short ride followed by dinner.

The event will be highlighted on Saturday by an 85 mile ride from Frederick to Gettysburg and back. Non-riders are encouraged to join us at the rest stops and lunch at the American Legion in Gettysburg, or enjoy alternative activities like ice skating or a walking tour of downtown Frederick.

Sunday will feature a moderate ride in the morning. Then we will wrap up with a group lunch. Other possible activities for the weekend could a trip to the Museum of Civil War Medicine, tour the Delaplaine Visual Arts Gallery, ice skating depending on availability and group interest.
